Swirl People is the name of a Belgian (deep) house project which was formed in 1997 on the 'Wally's groove world' label. Having numerous releases under their belt on labels like Seasons, Tronicsole, Panhandle, Aroma, Amenti music, Lowdown Music and MFF these two down to earth boys both aged in their mid 20’s are certainly not at the end of their creativity.
The first member is Dimitri Dewer. He started playing the keyboards at the age of 12 and got his first record deal on his 17th birthday. From then on he has had numerous releases on various national and international labels such as R&S, Big Time, BMG, Byte, Subsounds and Mox Music…….the list goes on. Dimitri is currently in very high demand as a producer and remixer for an array of worldwide artists.
Raoul Belmans makes up the second half of this production team and is world renowned from his DJ residency in Belgium’s FOOD. Raoul has been Djing since 1991 whether on the radio, at a bar or in the clubs. He teamed up with Dimitri in '96 experimenting with some studio equipment and the rest is history. Raoul's DJ gigs nowadays reach all over the Belgium, Europe, USA and the Far East where he regularly rocks the place at venues such as Sub Club (Glasgow), Bar Rhumba (Space/London), Robert-Johnson Club, Ultragroove (Edinburgh), Discotonic (The Kitchen), Queen (Respect/Confusion), Open house and the Rex Club. As well as all this Raoul owns and runs his record label AROMA.
Under different project names like Swirl People, Swirl Peepz, Cozy Creatures, Different Noodles and Tiger Sprouts, Dimitri and Raoul have already put out several 12inches and an album on a group of reputed record labels worldwide. The pair have also done numerous remixes for artists and projects like Rozzo, Neon Judgement, Street Corner Symphony, Spank the Monkey, Wizards of Ooze, Soulsearcher, Wam Kidz, Jori Hulkkonen, Fred Everything, Jenone & JT Donaldson and Alexander East,…
‘Hi Mom, Let’s Dance’ is the Swiirl People’s debut album, which showcases the duos unique style of quality, deep, pulsing house music. The Swirl People are one of Europe’s most respected house music production outfits having remixed a whole host of stars.
'Family Vacation', 'Hi Mom,Let’s Dance', 'Make Up Your Mind' and 'Future Signs' (which featured Inland Knights remixes) have already been released as 12". They have had heavy support and rotation from the like of Ralph Lawson, Derrick Carter, Fred Everything, Mark Farina, Tony Humphries, Djulz and Mateo & Matos.
'Fears' was also released autumn 02 with remixes from JT Donaldson. 'Say Ooh' was released with a Chris Harris remix and ‘Tales of Innocence’ was released with a remix from Paul Woolford.
