Ross Campbell was doing some session work with Stevie ‘Sole’ Middleton when the two first met. It was after working together on quite a few projects in the studio that the pair realised their common love for music and vocals. Soon after this Stevie and Ross decided to embark on a new partnership and album project. Bringing together Ross’s musical qualifications and talents with Stevie’s knowledge of black music and DJ culture and as a result Guiro was born.

Stevie Sole Middleton has been involved in music for more than ten years. He started collecting records in his teens and graduated to Djing whilst studying at university.  Stevie produces under the names Oscuro P, Phuture Retro with Julian Bendall and Cutting Headz and Tu-Souls with Phil Asher. Stevie has also teamed up with Milton Jackson recently for the club cut entitled Baracus ‘Bijongas’ now signed to Subliminal. Stevie continues to produce and remix on Solemusic and Tronicsole and has many future projects underway.  Six years ago Stephen started and founded the Solemusic label, which has now blossomed into two imprints: Solemusic and Tronicsole. The labels musical foundation is black dance music.  Stevie now takes a general role of A&R, business and financial control at the label.

In the early nineties Ross Campbell founded the not only founded the SOUND STRUCTURE studios in Glasgow, where he wrote music for Television adverts and theatre companies. It was in 1993 when Ross formed the NIGHTCRAWLERS. Between the years 94-95 they released the track ‘Push The Feeling On’. This became Island records biggest selling single of all time, selling 750,000 copies in the USA alone. It was twice a top forty hit in the UK, Italy and many other countries. As well as touring with the NIGHTCRAWLERS, Ross continued to write and compose music for television. During this period Ross also teamed up with Sub Club resident Harri, to remix M People, DSK, Yo-Yo Honey and Hue & Cry.

This album sees the Guiro duo collaborate with various like-minded artists. Such as the sweet vocal and the rapidly up and coming talents of Angela Johnson (who has just completed an artist album for Sony Japan). Mighty hip hop supremo, DJ Spinna who produced the underground anthem Solevision.  More mc vocal talents from Brooklyn based Kriminul who has also collaborated with Rae + Christian and Only Child.  Steve Edwards provides the vocals for “Put Your Hands Together”  Steve has also worked the likes of Cassius and chart toppers Basement Jaxx.
